New Delhi: A vehicle rammed into pedestrians at the Karkur junction, south of Haifa, Israel, on Thursday in what police have described as a “suspected terror attack.” At least 8 people were injured in the incident, Israeli media reported.

According to Israel Police, the attack took place around 4:18 PM local time near the Pardes Hanna-Karkur intersection on Highway 65. Emergency responders from Magen David Adom (MDA) were deployed to the scene and provided medical assistance to the victims, including one individual reported to be in serious condition.

The suspect, identified as a 24-year-old Arab Israeli from Ma’ale Iron, was killed by security forces, police confirmed.

“There is suspicion that this is a terror attack. Police forces successfully intercepted a suspicious vehicle, apprehending a suspect suspected to be responsible for the ramming,” Israel Police stated.

Israeli media also reported that two police officers were stabbed during the attack. According to a statement by an Israel Police spokesperson, the attacker first drove into people waiting at a bus station before exiting the vehicle and stabbing others. The assailant later crashed into a police vehicle before being neutralized by security forces.
