Washington DC: US President Donald Trump has made explosive claims, suggesting that either former President Joe Biden or his son Hunter might have left cocaine in the White House. Trump’s allegation has reignited controversy surrounding the July 2023 incident, which remains unsolved. Trump made bold claims about the discovery of cocaine, which reportedly was discovered in a locker near the Oval Office on July 2 in 2023, during a period when the Biden family, including Hunter, were spending their weekend at Camp David.

As per claims, following the discovery, the White House was evacuated, and the Secret Service initiated an investigation. However, after an 11-day probe, the investigation ended without naming any suspects. Despite this, Trump has expressed his belief that either Joe or Hunter Biden mislaid the cocaine.

During an interview with The Spectator World’s Ben Domenech, Trump criticised the investigation, claiming that the locker where the cocaine was found had been “stone cold, wiped dry”. He pointed out that the bins in that area are typically “loaded up with… and they’re not clean, with hundreds and even thousands of fingerprints,” implying that someone had intentionally wiped it clean to avoid detection.

“I think I’m going to look into that because, bad stuff happened there,” Trump added, underscoring his scepticism about the handling of the case.

The incident had led to a flurry of media attention, especially given Hunter Biden’s reported previous struggles with drug addiction. The cocaine was found in a locker leading to the West Wing, an area typically used by guests, not White House staff. Sources familiar with the setup claimed to a local media that the lockers are not assigned to specific personnel and that anyone visiting the White House could use a locker and take the key.

The setup has led some to speculate that a visitor or a tour participant might have been the culprit. A source pointed out that those familiar with the White House would know there is a bathroom nearby, where the cocaine could easily have been disposed of.

Reportedly, in July 2023, cocaine was found in a locker near the Oval Office while the Biden family was at Camp David. The White House was evacuated, and the Secret Service launched an investigation.

The Secret Service closed the investigation due to a lack of evidence, but new revelations have raised questions about the agency’s handling of the case. A report suggests that the former head of the Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, may have instructed the destruction of evidence, which is against protocol.

The controversy has prompted Republican figures, including House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, to criticise the Secret Service’s handling of the case.

Meanwhile, the incident remains unresolved, with many unanswered questions.
