Democrat Rep Removed From Trump’s Speech For Booing Him – wna24

Washington: A Democratic lawmaker was removed from the House chamber during Trump’s first joint congress address on Tuesday since returning to power. The address began with loud cheers from Republicans and protests from Democrats inside the chamber.  

The situation escalated when Trump called the November 5 election “a mandate like has not been seen in many decades.” At that moment, Rep. Al Green stood up and shouted, “You have no mandate.” The outburst, a rare breach of decorum, immediately sparked a reaction in the chamber. Waving his cane towards Trump, Green refused to sit when House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., called for order. Johnson then directed security to remove him.  

Republican lawmakers erupted into chants of “USA! USA!” as House security escorted Green out, while some jeered, shouting, “Get out!” and “Goodbye!” Even as he was being removed, Green continued to shout, “You have no mandate to cut Medicaid!”

Speaking to reporters after his removal, Green, a Texas Democrat, said he stood by his actions, arguing that Trump’s proposed Medicaid cuts would harm many of his constituents. “It’s worth it to let people know that there are some people who are going to stand up to the President,” he said. He added that he was unsure if he would face formal punishment but was willing to accept any consequences.  

Trump described Democrats as a lost cause and said, “This is my fifth speech as Congress , and once again, I took at the Democrats in front of me, and I realize there is absolutely nothing I can say to make them happy or to make them stand or smile or applaud, nothing I can do. I could find a cure to the most devastating disease, a disease that would wipe out entire nations, or announce the answers to thr greatest economy in history or the stoppage of crime to the lowest levels ever recorded, and these people sitting right there will not clap, will not stand and certainly will not cheer for these astronomical achievements.”

He also urged Democrats to join him to make America great again. 

Trump’s speech at joint congress addressee again and again mentioned about his administration’s aggressive rollback of diversity and inclusion initiatives like there will be only two genders ‘Male and ’Female’. He confirmed that his government had moved swiftly to ban such programs in federal institutions and dismiss employees advocating for them. “Our country will be ‘woke’ no longer,” he said, drawing loud applause from his party.  

The policy shift has had ripple effects beyond the federal government, with private companies and institutions also reconsidering their diversity measures. However, legal challenges have already been filed against these rollbacks, setting the stage for a long court battles.  

The mood in the House chamber was visibly divided. As Trump entered, Republican lawmakers jumped to their feet, whistling and cheering, celebrating what they see as a strong return to conservative governance. Many were jubilant after securing control over all three branches of government and eager to push forward Trump’s agenda.  

On the other side, Democratic lawmakers remained seated, refusing to join the standing ovation. Some wore shirts with “Resist” printed on the back and silently walked out of the chamber as Trump began speaking. Their vacated seats were quickly filled by Republican members.  

At the start of his address, Trump made a pointed reference to his predecessor, borrowing a phrase often used by Joe Biden : “America is back.” While Biden had used the phrase to signal renewed US engagement with allies, Trump repurposed it to assert his own leadership style.  

Biden had previously recounted how one world leader questioned whether America’s return under his leadership would be permanent, fearing Trump’s return. Now, with Trump back in office, he has flipped the phrase to claim that his vision for America is restored.

The evening’s theatrics underscored the challenges Trump faces in governing a deeply polarized nation. While his supporters see his policies as a much-needed correction, his critics warn of legal and political battles ahead. With a government funding deadline looming later this month, Trump’s ability to unify his party and negotiate with Democrats will be put to the test.
