Iran Denies Support To Yemen’s Houthi Rebels After US Strikes and ‘Fully Accountable’ Threat From Trump- wna24

Tehran: Iran on Sunday once again denied support and aiding Yemen’s Houthi rebels after the United States launched a wave of airstrikes against them and President Donald Trump warned that Tehran would be held “fully accountable” for their actions.

The Houthis have also been targeting international shipping in the Red Sea and launching missiles and drones at Israel. The rebels described these actions as acts of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, where Israel has been engaged in war with Hamas, another Iranian ally.

The US and other nations have consistently accused Iran of supplying military support to the Houthis. The US Navy has intercepted Iranian-made missile components and other weaponry, claiming they were intended for the militant group, which controls Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and the northern region of the country.

General Hossein Salami, the head of Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, denied any involvement in the Houthis’ attacks, asserting that Iran “plays no role in setting the national or operational policies” of the militant groups it allies with across the region, as reported by state-run TV.

The Houthi-run Health Ministry reported that US strikes killed at least 31 people, including women and children, and wounded over 100. The rebels claimed that one strike hit two homes in northern Saada province, killing four children and a woman. Images of the victims’ bodies were shown on the Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in a post on X, called on the US to stop its airstrikes, emphasizing that Washington cannot dictate Iran’s foreign policy. 

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Donald Trump vowed to use “overwhelming lethal force” until the Houthis halt their attacks on shipping in the crucial maritime corridor.
