Israeli Drone Strike Kills Hezbollah’s Air Defense Commander in Lebanon- wna24

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a drone strike in southern Lebanon, killing Hassan Abbas Izzedine, a senior Hezbollah commander responsible for the group’s air defense operations. The attack took place in Nabatieh, a stronghold of the Iran-backed militant group.

According to the Times of Israel, Izzedine played a critical role in rebuilding Hezbollah’s air defense system following previous Israeli attacks. He was also involved in acquiring new weapons that could pose a threat to Israeli military aircraft.

Shortly after the strike on Izzedine, another Israeli airstrike targeted a car near Nabatieh. Reports indicate that the vehicle was carrying Hezbollah operatives who were seen loading weapons. Details about casualties from the second strike remain unclear.

The attack comes amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, which have intensified in recent months. Israel has repeatedly targeted Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, citing the group’s growing military capabilities and threats to Israel’s security.

There has been no immediate response from Hezbollah regarding Izzedine’s death. However, past incidents suggest the group may retaliate against Israeli military targets in the region.

This strike underscores the volatile situation along the Israel-Lebanon border, where clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters have escalated.
