‘Living the American Dream’: Kash Patel Takes Oath on Bhagavad Gita as First Indian-Origin FBI Chief- wna24
Washington: Indian-origin Kash Patel took the oath as the ninth director of the FBI, placing his hand on the Bhagavad Gita, on Friday.
Patel was accompanied by his family members and girlfriend at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building while he recited the oath.
The oath ceremony was administered by US Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Patel succeeds Christopher Wray as the ninth FBI director.
‘Living the American Dream’
Kash Patel expressed his excitement, saying he is living the American dream and that it is still very much alive.
He called the opportunity “the greatest honor of his life” and remarked that a “first-generation Indian is about to lead the law enforcement agency of the greatest nation on Earth.”
Patel vowed to ensure accountability with his work and pledged that there would be accountability both inside and outside the federal agency.
Expressing his strong support for the new FBI head, US President Donald Trump called him a “tough, strong” person. The president also said Patel will go down as “the best ever at that position.”
The 44-year-old Republican was selected as the ninth FBI director after the Senate voted 51 to 49 in his favor.
