Florida: In a major security incident, three civilian aircraft breached the airspace over US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, prompting the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) to scramble F-16 fighter jets to secure the area, according to a report by Daily Mail.
The airspace violations occurred at 11:05 am, 12:10 pm, and 12:50 pm, led to the deployment of flares by the F-16s, which escorted the intruding planes out of the restricted zone.

Though the reason for the airspace violations remains unclear, such incidents have become alarmingly frequent in recent weeks, with multiple breaches reported during Trump’s visits to his estate.
In February alone, three airspace violations were recorded, with the most notable occurring on Presidents Day (February 17). NORAD responded similarly to these breaches by deploying fighter jets and flares to secure the area.
Later, the NORAD confirmed that on February 18, another unauthorized civilian aircraft entered Palm Beach airspace, necessitating the deployment of fighter jets and flares to warn the pilot, further escalating security concerns.
Temporary flight restrictions have been in place around Mar-a-Lago since Trump’s presidency, limiting aircraft and drones from operating in the area without permission, as per the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
NORAD emphasised that the flares deployed by fighter jets are designed with safety in mind, burning out quickly and posing no danger to people on the ground.
In a separate development, Trump revealed that the Justice Department had returned boxes of classified documents seized during an FBI investigation into his handling of sensitive materials after leaving the White House. The documents, including top-secret materials, were part of an ongoing legal battle. Despite the controversy, Trump asserted that the returned documents were part of the ongoing legal process overseen by the current administration, which includes appointees from his own presidency.
