New Delhi: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, KK Ahsan Wagan, was denied entry into the United States and deported from Los Angeles, despite holding a valid visa and all necessary travel documents, as per media reports.
Wagan was on his way to Los Angeles for a vacation when US immigration authorities stopped him at the airport.
Sources revealed that the deportation was linked to “controversial visa references” detected by the US immigration system, though specific details behind the decision remain unclear. The authorities instructed Wagan to return to his previous port of departure, raising questions about the diplomatic procedures that led to the incident.
However, no exact reason behind this action has yet been revealed by the US officials.
An official from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the incident, saying, “Ambassador KK Wagan was deported from the US.”
This unexpected deportation of a senior diplomat has raised concerns in diplomatic circles about the handling of visa-related issues and the treatment of foreign diplomats by the US immigration system. Sources indicated that Wagan might be called back to Islamabad for an explanation.
This incident also comes amid tensions between Pakistan and the US, despite recent cooperation on counterterrorism efforts.
Last week, US President Donald Trump reasserted the US’s commitment in fighting terrorism during his speech to the Congress.

He has previously served in important roles, including second secretary at the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu, deputy consul general in Los Angeles, and as ambassador in Muscat, Oman. He has also handled consular affairs and crisis management at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.
Given the gravity of the situation, the Foreign Ministry has reportedly briefed Pakistan’s top diplomatic leadership, including Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Secretary Aamna Baloch. Pakistan’s Consulate in Los Angeles has been tasked with investigating the incident further.
