Vatican City: After Pope Francis suffered a respiratory attack, speculations started building up about his resignation. However, the Vatican hierarchy has firmly shut down these rumours. The Vatican has not issued any such statement that clarifies Pope Francis’s resignation.

The 88-year-old Pope Francis is in pain as he suffered a respiratory attack that required “high-flow oxygen” and also blood transfusions. However, he remains alert and spent the day in an armchair.

A statement has been released from the Holy Press Office stating Pope health update. According to Holy Press, “This morning Pope Francis experienced an asthma-like respiratory crisis of prolonged intensity, which required the administration of high-flow oxygen.”

The statement further says, “The Pope also required blood transfusions. He remains alert and spent the day in an armchair, although he is in more pain than yesterday.”

Despite his health challenges, Pope Francis continues to remain active. The Vatican has made it clear that there is no imminent resignation on the horizon, and the focus remains on the pope’s recovery and well-being.

The Vatican’s firm stance on the matter aims to put an end to the resignation rumours and reassure the faithful that Pope Francis is still capable of leading the Catholic Church. As the pope continues to recover, the Vatican will prioritise his health and ensure that he receives the necessary care and support.

Francis, who has chronic lung disease and is prone to bronchitis in winter, was admitted to Gemelli hospital on Feb. 14 after a weeklong stretch of bronchitis worsened.

The 88-year-old Francis, who has been hospitalised for over a week with a complex lung infection, also received blood transfusions after tests showed a condition associated with anemia.
