Russia Launches ‘Record’ 267 Drones on Ukraine Overnight, Says Zelenskyy- wna24
Kyiv: Two days before the three-year anniversary of Moscow’s full-scale invasion, Russia launched “record” number of 267 drones into Ukraine overnight on Saturday than in any other single attack of the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday.
Zelenskyy wrote on social media that 267 drones were launched in “the largest attack since Iranian drones started hitting Ukrainian cities.” Ukraine’s air force reported shooting down 138 drones across 13 regions, with 119 more lost before reaching their targets.
Air force spokesman Yuriy Ignat described the 267 drones spotted in Ukrainian skies from Saturday to Sunday as “a record for a single attack” since the invasion started nearly three years ago.
The air force reported that three ballistic missiles were also fired. One person was killed in a missile strike on Kryvyi Rih, according to the city’s military administration head.
The attack appeared to happen as leaders in Kyiv and Europe grapple with swift shifts in U.S. foreign policy under President Donald Trump , who has rapidly reversed years of strong support for Ukraine. This has raised fears that he might collaborate with Moscow to push for a war settlement excluding Ukraine and its European allies.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a video showing Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepting several drones launched by the Kremlin.
Moscow has been carrying out near-nightly mass drone attacks on Ukraine for months, aiming to overwhelm air defenses. In response, Ukraine has worked throughout the conflict to disrupt Russian logistics, often targeting military bases and industrial sites deep inside Russia to prevent daily strikes.
A Russian missile attack on Saturday night resulted in one death and five injuries in the central town of Kryvyi Rih, according to regional authorities who reported the incident on Sunday.
