Kyiv: US President Donald Trump ‘s allies and senior aides are pressurising the Ukrainian President to either change his course or resign from his post. This comes days after the meltdown between Zelenskyy and Trump and JD Vance at the Oval Office in the White House.
‘Change Your Course or Resign’: Trump’s Senior Aides and Allies
Senior aides and supporters of President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy from Washington as he participated in a European summit in London on Sunday, seeking international backing for his country’s defense against the Russian invasion.
Echoing Trump’s stance, White House officials and Republican lawmakers appeared on news programs, urging Zelenskyy to show greater appreciation for U.S. assistance and to be more open to making concessions to Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war. Some even suggested that Zelenskyy might consider stepping down, despite strong support from the Ukrainian people.

White House NSA Mike Waltz Compares Zelenskyy to Churchill
Comparing the Ukrainian President to former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, the White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz has termed Zelenskyy’s behaviour as ‘incredibly disrespectful’ and said that Churchill had been voted out of office during the final leg of the Second World War. Churchill “was a man for a moment, but he did not then transition England into the next phase,” Waltz said. “And it’s unclear whether President Zelenskyy, particularly after what we saw Friday, is ready to transition to Ukraine to an end to this war and to negotiate and have to compromise.” Waltz said a negotiated end to the war would involve territorial concessions from Ukraine as well as “Russian concessions on security guarantees,” but he did not offer any more details about what Moscow would have to do.
‘Either He Needs to Come to His Sense or Someone Else Should Lead the Country’
House Speaker Mike Johnson has also expressed his opinion on Zelenskyy following the Oval Office debacle; he believes that the Ukrainian President must either change his behaviour or leave his position for someone else. “Either he needs to come to his senses and come back to the table in gratitude, or someone else needs to lead the country to do that,” Johnson said. “I mean, it’s up to the Ukrainians to figure that out. But I can tell you that we are re-exerting peace through strength.”

Zelenskyy-Trump-Vance Debacle at the Oval Office
The last few minutes of the diplomatic meeting between Zelenskyy and Donald Trump-JD Vance took an ugly turn resulting in the Ukrainian President storming out of the White House abruptly.
It all began with the US Vice President JD Vance calling Zelenskyy disrespectful. He said, “Mr. President, with respect. I think it’s disrespectful for you to come to the Oval Office to try to litigate this in front of the American media.” Before Zelenskyy’s response, Trump interrupted and in a raised voice said, “You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people. You’re gambling with World War III, and what you’re doing is very disrespectful to the country, this country that’s backed you far more than a lot of people say they should have…”
Following this, the Ukrainian President got up and left the White House abruptly, leaving behind the crucial minerals deal, that had to be signed between the US and Ukraine after the diplomatic meeting.
