President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, on Monday to assert that his administration was the only one that did not allow Ukraine to lose territory to Russia.
“The only President who gave none of Ukraine’s land to Putin’s Russia is President Donald J. Trump,” he wrote. “Remember that when the weak and ineffective Democrat’s criticize, and the Fake News gladly puts out anything they say!”
His statement comes amid ongoing tensions over U.S. policy toward Ukraine, with critics questioning his administration’s approach to Russia and its invasion of Ukraine.
Trump’s post follows another message he shared on Sunday, in which he argued that the U.S. should shift its focus away from Russian President Vladimir Putin and instead prioritize domestic security concerns.
“We should spend less time worrying about Putin, and more time worrying about migrant rape gangs, drug lords, murderers, and people from mental institutions entering our Country – So that we don’t end up like Europe!” he wrote.
Trump has made border security a central issue in his campaign, repeatedly criticizing the Biden administration’s immigration policies.
Trump’s remarks come as debates continue in Washington over U.S. support for Ukraine, after Trump and JD Vance’s contentious Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. US President Donald Trump wants to end the war in Ukraine, whereas Zelenskyy doesn’t appear interested in peace.
