Trump Open to Lifting Ukraine Aid Blockade if Negotiations Progress, says US’ NSA- wna24

The United States may consider restoring military aid to Ukraine if negotiations with Russia move forward and concrete confidence-building steps are taken, White House national security adviser Mike Waltz said on Wednesday.

Speaking to Fox News, Waltz indicated that President Donald Trump is open to reassessing the pause on U.S. assistance.

“I think if we can nail down these negotiations and move towards these negotiations, and in fact, put some confidence-building measures on the table, then the president will take a hard look at lifting this pause,” Waltz said.

Meanwhile, conflicting reports have emerged regarding whether the U.S. has also halted intelligence-sharing with Ukraine.

The Financial Times reported that the U.S. had cut off intelligence-sharing with Kyiv, potentially affecting Ukraine’s ability to target Russian military positions. However, other sources, including Bloomberg and Ukraine’s national broadcaster Suspilne, have contradicted this claim, stating that intelligence-sharing remains intact.

As of now, it isn’t clear if the flow of intelligence from US to Ukraine is still on or not. 

The U.S. has been a key supplier of military and financial assistance to Ukraine throughout its war with Russia, but the Trump administration recently suspended aid, citing the need for diplomatic progress. The White House has not publicly outlined the specific measures it would require from Ukraine before resuming support.

While Trump has consistently called for an end to the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that a peace deal with Russia remains “very, very far away.”

The latest developments suggest that Washington’s aid policy could shift if diplomatic talks gain traction, though the timeline for such negotiations remains uncertain.
