First Video: Trump Receives Zelenskyy At White House – wna24

Washington: US President Donald Trump met Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Friday as the Ukrainian President is in Washington to finalise a deal allowing its rare earth elements rights to the United States. Trump and Zelenskyy will also take forward the negotiation talk to end the war with Russia.

After arriving at White House, Zelenskyy was greeted by Trump and participated in a bipartisan delegation meeting with the US Senate.

The discussions focused on the continued military assistance for Ukraine, relevant legislative initiatives, efforts to achieve lasting peace, ending the war, and the importance of robust security guarantees.

Meeting Trump at the White House, Zelenskyy said he takes pride in having strategic partners and friends like the United States and is grateful for the unwavering bicameral and bipartisan support for Ukraine throughout all three years of Russia’s full-scale aggression.

Zelenskyy is on a very important visit to Washington that may unravel as a pivotal moment for Ukraine’s future as he is discussing Russia war and a possible deal with United States on rights over its rare earth elements.

Upon arriving at the White House wearing a formal black top rather than his casual military green t-shirt, Zelenskyy flashed a thumbs up towards the press but didn’t respond to shouting questions.

Trump, while receiving his Ukrainian counterpart, quipped, “He’s all dressed up.”

President Donald Trump asked Zelenskyy to give United States rights over its abundance of rare earth elements in exchange of all the funding, security support be it financial or militarily they provided to Ukraine to sustain war with Russia so far. However, Trump remained non-committal on providing security guarantees to Kyiv, something which Zelenskyy has persistently pressed with Washington.

Zelenskyy who did not deny that there is going to be a deal on rare earth elements said that the effectiveness of it would depend a lot on security guarantees from United States.

However, Trump has shown least interest in promising or even saying for the sake of it that US would take care off Ukraine’s security and rather left it for Europe.
