Twin Bomb Blasts Rock Khyber Pakhtunkhwa In Suspected Terror Attack- wna24
Islamabad: Powerful twin bomb blasts shook the Bannu Cantonment area in Pakistan ‘s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday evening, leaving the military compound in chaos. The blasts, which occurred near a security barrier, are believed to have been carried out by the terrorist group Jaish al Fursan, which recently merged with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). According to sources, the terrorists employed a coordinated strategy, using two simultaneous suicide car bombs (SVBIEDs) as a diversionary tactic, while a group of 5-6 terrorists launched a targeted assault on the cantonment area. The blasts sent thick plumes of smoke billowing into the air, with purported visuals of the attack circulating on social media.
Reportedly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been on high alert in recent weeks, following a string of terror attacks in the region. On February 28, a top pro-Taliban cleric, Hamidul Haq Haqqani, and four worshippers were killed, while 20 others were injured in a blast triggered by a suicide bomber during Friday prayers at a seminary in the same province.
Experts stated that the latest attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a warning on the ongoing security challenges facing Pakistan.
The authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
The Pakistani government has condemned the attack, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowing to take decisive action against those responsible.
