UK’s Starmer Announces £1.6 Billion Funding for 5,000 Air Defense Missiles to Ukraine | Image:

London: During the Summit of European leaders on Sunday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the UK will use 1.6 billion pounds ($2 billion) in export financing to supply 5000 air defense missiles for Ukraine.
The meeting comes two days after US support for Ukraine appeared in greater jeopardy after President Donald Trump lashed out at Ukrainian President and said Volodymyr Zelenskyy wasn’t grateful enough for US support.
Starmer concluded a security summit in London with other European leaders, saying that Europe must take the lead in defending itself, adding that nobody wanted to see the breakdown in talks that happened Friday at the White House but that the U.S. remains an important ally.
UK to Supply 5000 Air Defense Missiles for Ukraine
Starmer said the UK will use 1.6 billion pounds ($2 billion) in export financing to supply 5,000 air defense missiles for Ukraine.
He added that the plan he is working on for peace in Ukraine is intended to receive US backing.

Starmer On Sunday, announced that Britain, France, and Ukraine have agreed to collaborate on a ceasefire plan to present to the United States. The British Prime Minister announced a new meeting with US President Donald Trump to discuss a peace plan for Ukraine.
This plan, he noted, emerged from discussions among the leaders of the three countries following tensions at the White House.
Starmer Determined to End Ukraine War
British PM, who is hosted the leaders of more than a dozen countries and other officials, embraced Zelenskyy on his arrival in London on Saturday, saying he is determined to find an end to Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Speaking to a BBC, Starmer expressed confidence that President Trump is dedicated to achieving lasting peace in Ukraine, but emphasized that American security guarantees would be crucial for ensuring the sustainability of such peace.
The summit of European leaders was initially planned to celebrate the diplomatic efforts made over the past few weeks, with a hope of advancing peace in Ukraine.
Ukraine ‘Victim Of Great Aggression’
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that it is Ukraine that is under attack, the “victim of great aggression.”

Scholz said, “It is the country under attack, the victim of great aggression. This is the undeniable truth for everyone. And, of course, it also means that we must and will act accordingly,”
“The Russian perspectives cannot be accepted. Russia has always aimed to establish a government in Ukraine that follows its orders. This cannot be accepted.” he added.
