Why does a compass needle get deflected when brought near a bar magnet?

Why does a compass needle get deflected when brought near a bar magnet?

Ans: – As the same pole reflect when the same pole came in contact or close to it. In this case the needle of the compass has the same pole as the magnet so it reflects.

Explain magnetic field using the concept for magnetic line of forces.

Ans: – There present an imaginary line between the two poles in a magnet. The magnetic lines of forces are presented in a magnetic field. The direction of the magnetic lines always from north pole to south pole and this pines never intersect each other.

Write down the properties of magnetic lines of force.

The properties of the magnetic lines of forces-

  • The direction of the pole is always north pole to south pole.
  • These lines of force never intersect each other.

Explain the force acting on current carrying conductor in a magnetic field.

Ans: – The force on a current carrying conductor is dependent on the direction of the current through the coil as when the current is passes from parallel to another conductor then the magnetic lines of forces is created.

How is an electromagnet made from a solenoid? Explain. Write down the differences between bar magnet and electromagnet.

Ans: – There needed a strong iron in which we can rounded the solenoid to make it like the electromagnet.

The magnet in the bar magnet is permanent whereas the magnet in the electromagnet is temporary this is the main difference between the two magnets.

What is electromagnetic induction. Explain in detail the functioning of any one appliance based on this principle.

Ans: –The electromagnetic induction is the changes in the magnetic field in a circuit produces the voltage in that.

The ac generator works in this principal.

Describe the advantages of AC over DC.

Ans: – The ac is alternating current and the dc is direct current. For the transformation of the small current, we use the dc whereas for the transformation of high current we use the alternating current.

What is the function of an earth wire? Why is it necessary to earth electrical appliances?

Ans: – The earth wire directs the excess current in the circuit to the ground.

When there is excess current in a circuit then there is probability of the affecting the appliances of the home so we use the earth wire to transmitted the excess current to the ground.
