Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a sarcastic comment during an award ceremony about opting not to wear a suit to the White House.
According to a video released by Ukrainian authorities, Zelenskyy thanked the audience at the end of his speech at an awards ceremony and said, “Sorry, I’m not in a suit.”
His remarks drew applause from the audience present at the event.

Zelenskyy’s attire came under spotlight after an American journalist posed a question to the Ukraine President on why he refrains from wearing suits in the formal meetings.
“Why don’t you wear a suit? You’re at the highest level in this country’s office, and you refuse to wear a suit. Do you own a suit?” reporter asked Zelenskyy.

As the Oval Office erupted in laughter, Zelenskyy said that he will definitely wear a suit once the war with Russia concludes in a favourable result for Ukraine.
“I will wear the costume after this war finishes. Maybe something like yours, maybe something better or cheaper,” Ukraine’s President said.

Zelenskyy-Trump Showdown in Oval Office
US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy exchanged strong words in a media briefing inside the White House.
Zelenskyy, while emphasising the need for security guarantees, noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin had continued with his actions against his country even during Trump’s first term as President.
US Vice President JD Vance also present at the briefing, expressed his disapproval of Zelenskyy’s remarks, saying it is “disrespectful to come to the Oval Office of the United States of America and attack the administration that is trying to prevent the destruction of your country.
Trump told Zelenskyy that there is no favourable solution for Ukraine in the battlefield.
“If you didn’t have our military equipment, this war would have been over in two weeks,” he said.
Following the explosive press briefing, Zelenskyy walked out of the White House, cutting short his official visit.
