Moscow: Coming down heavily over Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his showdown with US President Donald Trump on Friday, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called Zelenskyy’s behaviour ‘dangerous.’
Zakharova, in an elongated post on social media, said that it was the Kyiv regime that refused to continue negotiations on a political and diplomatic settlement in the spring of 2022, using lies and manipulation to justify the continuation of hostilities and the receipt of Western military and financial aid.
Zakharova said with Zelenskyy’s ‘outrageously boorish behaviour’ during his stay in Washington, he confirmed that he is the ‘most dangerous threat to the world community.’
Calling him an ‘irresponsible instigator of a major war,’ Zakharova said everyone should understand how unambiguous such attacks sound from the leader of terrorists.
Calling Zelenskyy a ‘cynic,’ Zakharova said he disdained nothing and was obsessed only with preserving the power he had usurped.
Zakharova stated that in the current political conditions that were increasingly worsening for the Kyiv regime, the Ukrainian President was ‘incapable of showing a sense of responsibility.’
She said he was therefore obsessed with continuing the war, rejecting peace, which was like death to him.
She added, “The sobering dressing down of Zelensky in the White House, unprecedented in the history of international politics and diplomacy, is also evidence of the political weakness and extreme moral degradation of those European leaders who continue to advocate for the support of the insane leader of the Nazi regime, who has lost touch with reality. As before, we proceed from the fact that a truly fair and sustainable peace is possible only with the complete elimination of the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis. The main ones were: the West’s violation of promises not to expand NATO, the absorption by the alliance of the entire geopolitical space of Europe right up to the Russian borders and the systemic liquidation by the Kyiv regime, like the German Nazis of the past, of everything Russian: language, culture, church.”
Zakharova stated, “Russia’s unchanging goals therefore remain the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, as well as the recognition of the existing realities “on the ground.”
She ended her response by saying that the sooner Kyiv and famous European capitals realised this, the closer would be the peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.
Strongly berating Zelenskyy over the war in Ukraine, Trump and Vice President JD Vance accused the former of not showing gratitude after he challenged Vance on the question of diplomacy with Russian President Vladimir Putin .
The argument, which occurred in the Oval Office in the US during Zelenskyy’s visit to the White House, was broadcast globally.
The verbal spat now questions how much the US will still support Ukraine in its defence against Russia’s 2022 invasion.
