Q. A passenger in a moving car slips to one side of the seat when the car takes a sharp turn. Give reason for it.
Ans. It is because of inertia of direction, which states that a body continues to remain in the same state of rest or in uniform motion in a straight line with uniform speed, unless it is compelled by an external force to change its state of rest or of uniform motion. We tend to fall sideways because of our inertia of direction as we continue to move along a straight line.
