Q. (a) Define evaporation. Out of nylon and cotton clothes, which will be more comfortable during summer and why?
(b) Is evaporation and boiling are same? If not then (Delhi-2016) why ?
Ans. (a) Evaporation: The phenomenon of change of a liquid into vapours at any temperature below its boiling point is called evaporation.
Cotton is good absorber of water than that of nylon. So during summer, cotton clothes absorb sweat, which on evaporation causes cooling of the body.
(b) Not exactly same, but boiling of liquid takes place at its boiling point. Whereas evaporation takes place at any temperature or room temperature.
