Explain by giving reason:

(i) If a stone held in our hands is released, it falls towards the earth.

(ii) Two objects kept in a room do not move towards each other as per the universal law of gravitation.

Ans. (i) Because of the force of attraction between the stone and the earth, i.e., gravitational pull.

(ii) Because size of the bodies are very small, hence the force of attraction developed between them is very small and it does not overcome their force of attraction towards the earth and hence neither moves.
