(i) What is the function of cambium ?
(ii) What is meant by lignin ? Where is it present ?
(iii) What are the characteristics of cells of epidermis ?
Ans.  (i) Cambium is the region which is responsible for growth in thickness.
(ii) Lignin is a complex polymer which acts as a cement and hardens cell wall. It is present in the walls of cells of sclerenchyma tissue. Such cell walls are called lignified.
(iii) Cells of epidermis are elongated and flattened and do not contain any intercellular space between them. The inner contents of epidermis cells are similar to parenchyma cells, i.e., they are living cells.
