Q. Give the magnitude and direction of the net force acting on :
(a) a drop of rain falling down with a constant speed.
(b) a cork of mass 10 g floating on water.
(c) a kite skilfully held stationary in the sky.
Ans. (a) The rain drop is falling with constant speed so its acceleration a = 0 and hence net force acting on it, F = ma = 0.
(b) The weight of floating cork is balanced by upthrust so net force on the cork is zero.
(c) The kite is held stationary so net force on the kite is zero.
