Q. How will you separate a mixture of common salt, camphor and iron filings. Describe the process.
Ans. (i) Magnetic separation method : By using magnet over the mixture, it will separate iron filings from the mixture.
(ii) Sublimation method : It involves heating the mixture in a china dish with its mouth covered by separating funnel which has cotton plug in its stem. This separates camphor.
(iii) Distillation method : It involves heating contents in a distillation flask. This separates common salt and water gets condensed.
