His father said that it is just a small piece of ice jutting out of the sea and there is nothing to bother. This convinced his father and they steered clear of the iceberg. dangerous ?
(a) Why are icebergs in the sea
(b) What values are possessed by John and his father?
Ans. (a) An iceberg has smaller density (0.917 gcm-3) than sea water at the same temperature. The density of sea water is about 1.018 gcm-3, hence an iceberg floats with nearly 10% of its volume outside water. This means that only a small part of the iceberg is seen outside water. Therefore, it is dangerous.
(b) John Caring nature and in-depth knowledge
John’s father: Respect for knowledge.
