Quick sand consists of very smooth and tiny grains of sand. What would happen, if a man or a heavy animal steps over a patch of such sand in a desert?

Ans. On the normal kind of sand, the force of a heavy animal is counter balanced by the reaction of ground, thus, one can easily stand on this kind of sand. However, as the quick sand consists of very fine particles, it does not offer considerable reaction. Thus, the animal or person is likely to sink in it.
