Q. Ravi added small amount of common salt to water taken in a graduated cylinder. On dissolution, there was no detectable change in the level of water. Explain why is it so ?
Ans.
- When we dissolve sugar or salt in water, the volume of water remains the same because the particles of sugar or salt get into spaces between the particles of water and thus become invisible.
- It shows that particles of matter have space in between them.
