(i) Oxidation of food takes place in mitochondria, and they release energy in the form of ATP. This energy helps in various chemical activities needed for life. Hence, mitochondria are known as powerhouse of cell.
(ii) Plastids have their own DNA and ribosomes. Therefore, they are able to make their own protein.
(iii) Hypertonic solution has lower concentration of water than the cell. When a plant cell is kept in it, water present in the cell leaves the cell due to exosmosis. Therefore, it shrinks.
