Q. What are stomata ? Write two functions of stomata.
Ans. Stomata are small pores found in the epidermis of the leaf of plants.
Functions of Stomata :
(i) Gaseous Exchange: Stomata are sites where exchange of gases (carbon dioxide and oxygen) occurs between the plant’s interior and external environment.
(ii) Transpiration : Major part of transpiration occurs through stomata. Transpiration removes excess water and keeps plant surface cool even in bright sun.
