Why copper sulphate solution in water does not show tyndall effect but mixture of water and milk shows ?

Q. Why copper sulphate solution in water does not show tyndall effect but mixture of water and milk shows ?
Ans. The solute particles in copper sulphate solution are very small, i.e., of the order of 10-9 m and even smaller, thus they cannot scatter light and do not show tyndall effect. Whereas milk contains colloidal particles of fats and proteins which cannot be seen with naked eye but are big enough to scatter a beam of light and thus show tyndall effect.
