Why oxygen is called gas? Support giving two reasons.

Q.1. Why oxygen is called gas? Support giving two reasons.
Ans. (i) Oxygen has neither fixed shape nor fixed volume.
(ii) Oxygen diffuses in air easily.
(iii) Oxygen exerts pressure when filled in a container and can be liquefied.
Q.2. Name the state of matter in which :
(a) Layers of particles can slip and slide over one another easily.
(b) Particles just move around randomly because of very weak force of attraction.
Ans. (a) Liquid state
(b) Gaseous state
Q.3. What is the effect of change of pressure on physical state of matter? Explain with an example of a gas.
Ans. On increasing or decreasing the pressure the states of matter can be changed.
e.g., A gas can be liquefied on applying pressure. It happens so because molecules of gas get closer and hence gas is converted into liquid.
