Ans. In the alpha particles scattering experiment, Rutherford bombarded a thin gold foil with fast moving alpha particles and observed that:
(i) Most of the a-particles passed straight through the gold foil.
(ii) Some of the a-particles were deflected by the foil through small angles.
(iii) One out of every 12,000 particles appeared to rebound.
