Q. At some place on the equator, a bag of sugar weighs ‘W’ kg. Will it weigh same, or more or less when taken to Antartica ? Give reason for your answer.
Ans. We know that radius of earth ‘R’ is largest at the equator. Hence, ‘g’ at the equator is lowest. Thus, a bag which weighs W kg at the equator will weigh greater at the poles.
As ‘R’ at the poles is lesser than that at the equator. Therefore, g is more at the poles than equator.
