WORKED-OUT EXAMPLES
1. Write a dialogue between two friends about the necessity of maintaining discipline in school.
Subha: Dear Mita, I am really satisfied with the classes.
Mita: Yes, our headmaster is giving maximum stress on education and discipline.
Subha: We are fortunate to get such a headmaster and such a school.
Mita: Learning and teaching are works of brain which are impossible without discipline.
Subha: When the atmosphere inside and outside the classroom is quite, it helps us to concentrate and the teachers can teach from the core of their hearts.
Mita: For that discipline is a must.
Subha: Our teachers seem rude to us sometimes, but that is necessary to maintain discipline. Now we can understand the truth.
Mita: For that we should thank our teachers and of course, our headmaster.
2. Write a dialogue between a teacher of English and a student who wants to write correct English and improve his flair for the language.
Student: May I please speak to you, Sir?
Teacher: Of course. What’s the matter? What do you want to know?
Student: Actually I want to talk about some of my problems which have become really hard for me to overcome.
Teacher: Why are you hesitating? Tell me freely.
Student: In exams, in English, I haven’t been able to score satisfactory marks so far. I am in real worry.
Teacher: What problem do you face at the time of writing?
Student: I always remain in fear of committing grammatical mistakes. So I can never get the free flow of writing.
Teacher Just listen to me, as we are learning English as a second language, we always have some problems. But it is not that you can never overcome it.
Student: Then how can I write correct English?
Teacher: I think, your over-consciousness about grammar may have its evil effect on your writing. Yes, grammatical perfection is needed but that can never be achieved all on a sudden. It’s a long process.
Student: Then what should I do?
Teacher: Primarily while practising, write freely first. Then review it. Try to find out your faults. If you can detect those one by one, the problems will be solved gradually. Again, always get your writing checked by some teacher.
Student: Thank you sir for your valuable suggestions.

Amit: I heard the news of your street accident just two hours ago. While coming back home I met your mother and she told me everything about you.
Ritesh: It’s God’s blessing that I am talking with you now. The accident was so dangerous that something worse might have happened.
Amit : What !
Ritesh: Yes, at the last moment the driver somehow controlled his bus. So I was hit on the side. I fell on the ground.
Amit : Then?
Ritesh: The local people were really helpful. They rescued me then and there and admitted me to this hospital.
Amit : Now I think you are much better.
Ritesh: Doctors are taking care. They have told me that I may be released tomorrow.

Rita: What’s the problem?
Sajal: I went to consult the doctor about my grandfather’s health. He is suffering from breathing trouble.
Rita: Yes, that’s pathetic. Such kinds of patients suffer a lot.
Sajal: He is aged. Again he has been suffering for a long time. Now it grows.
Rita: Why do you think such problems are growing?
Sajal: All these are because of destruction of nature and growth of pollution in every respect.
Rita: I was also going to tell you about that. Have you seen in our area trees are cut down now and then? But there is no question of plantation of new trees.
Sajal: All these will destroy our environment. Government also is not looking to these matters.
Rita:. Don’t blame others. Have we taken any responsibility?
Sajal: That’s true. We also have to come forward with our own efforts.
Rita: Yes, we can also do something to solve this problem. Let us make a plan to plant new saplings in our area.
Sajal : Okay. We shall discuss it later in detail. But one thing is certain, we must do something at the earliest. Bye for now.
Rita: Bye. See you in a while.

Sumit : I am fine. Where are you coming from?
Tapan: Actually I was away from home for the last three years. But now I am coming back permanently to live here.
Sumit : That’s good. I was thinking about boys like you.
Tapan: Why, Dada?
Sumit: You know, the condition of our village is deteriorating rapidly. No one is enthusiastic enough to take care of the village.
Tapan : I see. That’s why the condition of the roads is so bad. Again the nature is somehow absent as it is destructed daily.
Sumit: Yes, we have to build it up again. If we be united, we can appeal to the local Panchayat about some grant for all these.
Tapan: That must be done. Our negligence is the main cause behind all these.
Sumit: You have to start the cultural programmes again.
Tapan: That I love to do.
Sumit: While you were away all those prgrammes also stopped.
Tapan: I shall be happy if. I can do something for the village.

Surya: Oh, I have forgotten to tell you. Our class teacher has taken ‘a programme of afforestation’ next week. All of us have to participate.
Amulya: What’s that? What shall we have to do?
Surya: Everyone of us has to plant four plants each. We also have to take care of those plants throughout the year.
Amulya: Why?
Surya: Because of deforestation everywhere, the ecosystem is disrupted, the natural balance is hampered. This may be the cause of destruction of our world.
Amulya: Yes, that’s true. Again the wild animals are also suffering. Some of them are going to be extinct.
Surya: Come to the class. We will discuss it at large.
