Ans. (i) Newton’s law of gravitation is applicable for every object in the universe, hence it is called as universal law of gravitation.
(ii) The universal law of gravitation successfully explained following:
(a) The force that binds us to the earth,
(b) The motion of the moon around the earth,
(c) The motion of planets around the Sun, and
(d) The tides due to the moon and the Sun.
